Genealogy Program for Ipod Classic
« on: July 09, 2009, 01:50:20 AM »
My Palm PDA is dying and along with it my GedStar Pro 3.2.  I do have an Ipod Classic (not Iphone or Itouch).  My Classic syncs up with iTunes.  Is there anything out there that I can use?  I really don't want to go back to lugging notebooks to the library.

I'm afraid that every genealogy app I can find requires either an iPhone or an iPod Touch -- nothing that I can find is available for the Classic.

How about a net book?   Asus or one of the other one will be smaller than even a notebook [if you mean the old school type one!] and with some of them, you will have a complete computer.   With the Asus, you will need thumb drives but it works OK.   I doubt that GedStar will work on it but you can keep a lot of stuff on the small  computers.   My daughter can run all her business on an Acer Aspire.   I'm getting that one for my next genealogy trip!

Many of the netbooks of today run XP, have hard drives, and really are computers in their own right, while costing only about $300.  I think you could do almost anything on them - though they are not as powerful as full-sized laptops or desktops.  Most of our computers have far more capabilities than we really need, I think.
